SEHD Student Learning Commons
UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO DENVER
The University of Colorado Denver – School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) renovated a portion of the 7th floor Lawrence Street Center, to create a new Student Learning Commons. The improvements included the lobby space that leads into the reception area, new open and enclosed meeting spaces and computer work stations.
The featured Commons was designed to align with Longs Peak and offers views of the mountains as inspiration to the users of this space.
The Commons is equipped with smart technology and presentation monitors for group use. The “fish bowl” is a glass enclosed student meeting room for collaboration and presentation preparation. Open work stations are for all enrolled students and opposite them, on the other side of the glass wall, is the new TA support and help desks for additional student resources and coaching. Existing artwork from a DPS elementary school was the inspiration for the color palette of the space.
