Cherry Hills

RESIDENCE
Transparency, openness, and sophistication are central to this Cherry Hills Village renovation. Situated on a spacious, two-acre lot, large windows and outdoor living spaces create a strong connection to the outside while bringing light into the home. Interested in a unique uncharacterized style, the client was looking for a design strategy that respected the long-standing neighborhood, without restricting new ideas and modern living. The project approach included renovating the basement and main levels as well as raising the second floor by a foot. Increasing bedroom count and adding functional spaces such as a craft room, dog room and second floor laundry were also achieved.

Increased transparency on the main level is accomplished through an open floor plan approach within the living space, creating sightlines through the kitchen, living and dining spaces.

The sensible result combined a new urban chic genre with an old world industrial flair. Heavy, stacked timber stairs with leather tread inlays anchor your arrival at the entry. The railing system is comprised of delicate metal spindles, transparent enough not to impede the dramatic view into the living space. Raw, brushed metal finishes are fashioned throughout the interior with glimpses of concrete surfaces from within the open kitchen. Two islands are positioned ninety degrees from the back wall to frame the food preparation zone. This exposed layout interfaces not only the dining room, but also the family room and breakfast nook, resulting in a full 180-degree exposure to its surroundings. Two huge fifteen-foot sliding openings flow into a covered patio beyond which enlarges the living spaces even more.
